A GPS tracker can offer you peace of mind. You can know where your car or asset is at all times. For example, if your teen or spouse drives your car, you can know when they leave and arrive home.

You can get location updates every few seconds or minutes. But these frequent updates are often associated with high subscription costs.

A good GPS device can cost you about $100 to $200. If we consider an average monthly fee of $10, that is an additional $120 every year you use the tracker. And a $10 monthly fee is a pretty conservative example. Some brands charge $30 to $40 for their premium services.

So, I was on the lookout for a tracker that would let me track my car but not burn my wallet while doing so. It was during my research I came across the Reiwour magnetic 4G GPS tracker.

It provides you with 30 seconds updates while in motion with no monthly fees. When you purchase the device, you get a year of service included. After which you can renew the service from the 2nd year onwards.

The tracker offers other basic features like geofences, power saving mode, history, and tamper alerts. Let us go through a detailed review of the tracker to understand if it is worth buying.

Reiwour is a brand that offers products powered by GPS technology. Yuehai Xinda Electronic Technology manufactures the products. The company specializes in electronic products.

Reiwour’s product range includes the 4G portable tracker, 4G OBD tracker, and 4G wired car tracker. The USP of the brand’s products is that no monthly fees are involved. 1-year of service is typically included with the device purchase.

Who is The Reiwour Magnetic 4G GPS Tracker For?

Who is The Reiwour Magnetic 4G GPS Tracker For?

The Reiwour magnetic tracker is battery-operated. So it is a portable tracker that can be used for several applications like vehicle and asset tracking.

One can use a portable tracker to track people and pets. But in Reiwour’s case, I would recommend you stick to cars and trucks. This is because the tracker, dimension-wise, is pretty big. It is also heavier. It is, in fact, the biggest portable GPS tracker I have tested.

So, I would say use this portable 4G GPS tracker for car and truck tracking. Businesses can use these trackers to manage their fleets.

5 Important Factors I Tested The Product On

The GPS tracker has a strong build and is powered by a 10000 mAh battery. It offers features like geofences and historical playbacks. I consider this device to be an entry-level GPS tracker. Let us find out how it does in terms of performance.

1. Design

Design

As I mentioned above, it is a large and heavy tracker. The device’s dimension is 73.8mm × 69mm × 35.5mm, weighing about 12 ounces. This is a far cry from Tracki, which weighs only 1.26 ounces. Other portable trackers usually weigh around the 3 to 8 ounces mark.

One of the reasons the Reiwour tracker is heavy is because it is built with heavy-duty materials. It includes an IP65 dust and water-resistant housing. It also has a higher battery capacity, which we will explore below.

For a portable tracker, the device is on the heavier end. But if it is used explicitly for cars and trucks, the design is quite decent.

2. Battery

The tracker comes with a 10000 mAh battery. It is one of the highest battery capacities that I have come across in the portable tracker range.

Reiwour claims the battery can last up to 7 to 20+ days while sending updates every 30 seconds. And it has a standby time of 50 days.

But this is not the case. I was disappointed with the battery life. If you use the tracker for a couple of hours during the day, you may be able to extend the battery to a week or ten days. But the more often you use the tracker, the quicker the battery drains. It may last you for about 3 to 5 days.

As it is a 10000 mAh battery, it also takes longer to charge. You will need a minimum of 5 hours to get a full charge.

3. Usability

Usability

The device is basic in terms of usability and features. But you will need time to figure out how things work because the documentation is limited.

You may receive the SIM card separately. So, insert the card into the micro SIM card slot before proceeding. Ensure the device is off during this step.

The device comes with a strong built-in magnet. You can place the tracker around the front or rear windshield frame, under the dashboard, or around the car door. The GPS antenna surface (it is the one that does not have a label) should be facing upwards.

Also, keep the device away from other communication devices, like a reversing radar, as it can interfere with reception.

You can register online or on the app and email the support team to activate the device.

Using the Reiwour GPS app is multilingual. You can manage tracking, alerts, and other settings from here. But, again, you will have to spend time exploring the app. It is easy to understand, but there is little documentation available.

4. Features

You can set up geofences which are typically areas that you consider safe. For example, you can set geofences around your home, office, or your child’s school. So every time your car leaves or enters a particular geofence, you will get an alert for the same.

Setting up a fence is straightforward. You can decide on the fence radius, move the map to the appropriate location, enter a name, and click OK.

The device offers historical track playback, which you can access from your computer or phone. In addition, it saves data for up to 90 days.

The device offers a tamper detection feature. If someone attempts to remove the tracker from your asset, it will send you an alert.

5. Performance

Performance

The device can be used in normal, power-saving, and intelligent mode. In the normal mode, you can set the tracker to set updates every 30 seconds while in motion.

When the car stops moving, the device waits 3 minutes and then switches the location update frequency from 30 seconds to 5 minutes. The alert frequency does work as specified.

For geofence alerts as well, I received them in a few seconds when my car left the boundary around my home.

Regarding accuracy, Reiwour claims it is more or less around 10 meters. This is true, but the performance is inconsistent. You may come across scenarios where the accuracy may be off by over 50 meters.

I prefer the app performance better than the online GPS tracking platform.

What Sets The Reiwour Magnetic 4G GPS Tracker Apart From Its Competitors?

You can use the app or send an SMS command to restart the device remotely. This can come in handy if the device is showing as offline or if the location details are incorrect. The issue could be because of a poor GPS signal, and a remote restart could help resolve the issue.

The Reiwour GPS tracker has no monthly fees. And that is its most distinguishing factor. One year of service is included when you purchase the tracker. And from the 2nd year, you have to pay the renewal fee.

It is still a cost-effective option if you compare it with some of the brands that offer the lowest monthly subscription prices.

Should You Purchase The Reiwour Magnetic 4G GPS Tracker?
